World record holder with BBF Builders
By Kathy Carlton Willis | Living Out Loud Communications | Wilmington, Ohio
A Little boy imitating John Wayne in Rio Lobo grew up to become the World fastest shot in a double balloon series. We happen to have this quick shooter in the Baptist Bible Fellowship. Jerome Price works with the BBF Builders, along with his wife, Kathy. Jerome's uncontested world record was set at Annie Oakley Days in Ohio in 2001. Fast draw is the art of reacting to a signal, drawing, firing, and hitting a target with a single action revolver using a "full powder" blank. A timing clock gives the shooter a random two to five second delay before turning on the target light. When the light comes on the shooter grabs the gun, draws it out of the holster, cocks the hammer, and pulls the trigger to fire the gun at the target. The target is a balloon shot from a distance of 8 to 12 feet. Jerome was saved at a young age in a church started by his father, Horace J, Price. At the time, it was called Capital City Baptist Church, in Jackson, Mississippi, and is now known as Heritage Baptist Church, located in Byram, Mississippi. Kathy started going to Bible Baptist Church, Griffith, Indiana (now located in Highland, Indiana) on the bus when she was just three. She made a profession of faith at a young age but didn't get saved until a revival meeting in 1988. Before joining the BBF Builders, Jerome owned a large mechanical and electrical company, specializing in air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical work. Jerome and Kathy were servants to their church and their pastor in many capacities. In 2000, Heritage Baptist Church in Byram, Mississippi ( Mike Stancil, pastor) began a new building project. Both Jerome and Kathy were very involved in seeing the church building completed. The BBF Builders were also involved in the project and were impressed with the abilities of the Prices. They were recruited to join the group. The Price sold everything they owned on Ebay. They have reduced all their earthly possessions from a 4,000 square foot home to a 5th wheel trailer. The travel trailer is also a home school to the Price's four children: Stephanie, Kayla, Victoria, Jackie. Knowing that God wanted them to give up their livelihood and their belongings to join the Builders, the Prices are currently only at 18 percent. They are living solely on support, love offerings, and of course, faith. When asked why they are so willing to make such a big sacrifice to be a part of the BBF Builders, Kathy said, " My burden is for lost bus kids. If we don't get churches built, where will the parents send their children? They are our future and only God knows who they will become. My mom was saved 18 years after I started riding the bus and attends church at Bible Baptist in Highland, Indiana." Jerome says one of his reasons for being on the Builders' team is, " if we don't get churches built how can we send more missionaries? Also, each supporting church has a part every time there is a soul saved in one of the churches built through BBF Builders." Jerome is licensed in air conditioning, plumbing and electrical. He is also a wholesale dealer in sound equipment, and is able to purchase items at cost for churches. Jerome witnessed how much money was saved at his home church and wants to pass on the savings to other churches in the fellowship as well. The Price's home church, Heritage Baptist Church in Byram, Mississippi is appraised at $900,000 and was built for only $400,000. Since November 1, 2003, the Prices have worked with the BBF Builders. Jerome has also installed projectors and/or sound systems, and training audiovisual workers, at numerous churches across America. He builds slide shows and is an A+ certified computer technician. Kathy designs business literature for churches. She also paints wall murals for church classrooms and nurseries. The Prices are available to come to your church or camp, not only to present the work of the BBF Builders, but also to present Jerome's fast draw presentation.
